NORTH BEAVER TWP. — A New Brighton man’s apparently erroneous belief that he was once married to another man’s wife has landed him in the Lawrence County Jail.

Robert Allen Young, 45, of 809 12th St., New Brighton, was charged Friday with felony stalking and other offenses. He was taken into custody Monday and jailed on $25,000 bond.

State police said Young has repeatedly harassed Kathleen McCutcheon, 43, of 231 Kyle Road, North Beaver Township, and her husband, Timothy, 44, of the same address, dating to December 2010.

The McCutcheons told police that Young mistakenly believes that he was married to Kathleen McCutcheon more than 20 years ago and that they have children together, according to a criminal complaint filed by state police with District Judge Jennifer Nicholson.

On July 19, while Timothy and Kathleen McCutcheon were out of town, Timothy’s brother, Michael, told police that Young had dropped cards and gifts on the McCutcheons’ front porch on Kyle Road.

Michael McCutcheon also told police that Young had contacted Timothy and Kathleen McCutcheon repeatedly and that Young sometimes carried a firearm.

According to the criminal complaint, Wendy McCutcheon, Michael’s wife, said Young asked her during a phone call to “tell Kathy that Bob Young loves her.”

In an interview with police, Timothy McCutcheon said that he and Young had previously been friends but that Young had neither been married to nor fathered children with McCutcheon’s wife.

Besides the felony stalking charge, Young has been charged with misdemeanor stalking, harassment and criminal trespass.
